About the Position

Fire Systems of Michigan is looking to hire an Administrative Assistant that will work closely with our management team. This is a very important and essential role in our company and the ideal candidate will have a can-do personality, be well organized, extremely detail focused and have excellent communication skills.

Job Duties include but are not limited to
  • Review completed jobs for completeness and accuracy
  • Reviewing inspection reports for completeness and accuracy
  • Create new jobs for return or new services
  • Schedule work with our customers
  • Responsible for tracking hundreds of work orders and ensuring that jobs are scheduled and completed on-time.
  • Monitoring national account emails and uploading invoices
  • Reviewing department quotes and billings for accuracy
  • Assisting technicians with electronic devices and programs
Qualifications
  • Excellent verbal, written and customer service skills. Detail oriented is a must!
  • Prior experience in a commercial services company preferred, but not required.
  • Proven ability to oversee an essential business function and meet goals/deadlines.
  • Thorough knowledge of general office procedures and equipment.
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced, team-based environment.
  • Must be very analytical and have excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Self-Starter with great organization skills, especially time management skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products, especially Word and Excel.

About the Opportunity

We are looking for hard working and hands-on individuals that want to learn a new trade in the fire protection industry. The fire protection industry is always in high demand and can be a long-term career that can have the potential opportunity to provide income in excess of $60,000+ per year in salary and potential bonuses with training, certification and years of quality hard work.

This is a great opportunity to join our team and earn while you learn to become a licensed, certified Kitchen Fire Suppression Technician. This position will be trained on how to inspect, repair and possibly install fire suppression systems in restaurants.

Salary – per hour based on experience
  • Potential quarterly bonuses
  • Paid 3 hours at the time and half rate for emergency service calls.
  • Paid 3 hours at the double time rate for emergency services calls on recognized holidays, in addition to 8 hours of holiday pay at the regular rate.
Job Duties (After Training)
  • Inspecting and repairing pre-engineered restaurant fire suppression systems manufactured by ANSUL, Pyro Chem, RangeGuard, Kidde and Piranha.
  • Thorough understanding of NFPA, manufacturer and local fire codes for restaurant fire suppression systems.
  • Performing on-site emergency troubleshooting of fire suppression systems.
  • Identifying NFPA code and non-conformance issues.
  • Maintain proper documentation for all work performed.
Qualifications
  • **Must have work history and experience with hand tools such as pipe wrenches, channel locks, drills, etc**
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with 3 or less points.
  • Must be able to work nights and weekends for emergency services.
  • Must be willing to learn and study about the different kitchen fire systems, fire extinguishers and other fire equipment in order to pass tests and get certified.
  • Must take initiative, pursue opportunities, and tackle goals.
  • Must have an excellent attendance and can handle responsibility.
  • Must be able to communicate well with customers and explain the work being done and any repairs that are necessary.
  • Must be able to write well and be very detailed in your write up on service work.
  • Must be well organized and be able to keep track of service tickets and process all required documents for each service performed.

Fire Systems of Michigan has an extensive customer base with over 4,000 fire systems that we perform recurring inspection and repair services throughout the region.   • Must be able to work occasional nights, early morning and weekend shift when needed.

Fire Alarm Inspector

Department: Fire Alarm
Status : Full-Time

Qualified candidates for the fire alarm inspector position will perform fire alarm inspections, service and installations on fire alarm and special hazard systems.

Responsibilities
  • Inspect, service and install commercial fire alarm systems.
  • Test devices such as smoke detectors, pull station, heat detectors, horn/strobes and other devices as required.
  • Verify fire alarm works and functions properly, test signals in the monitoring station, load test batteries, perform sensitivity of smoke detectors and other functions as required.
  • Replace defective components as necessary.
  • Communicate with customers on status and deficiencies in a professional manner.
  • Accurately complete all sections of Service Trade software.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Have or obtain Nicet Level 2 and Michigan Fire Alarm Specialty Tech License.
  • Have strong knowledge of inspections and NFPA 72 requirements.
  • Detail orientated.
  • Must be available to be on call.
  • Have a good driving record.
  • Be independent.
  • Be able to travel with possible overnight stay(s).
  • Ability to work well with others on a large inspection.
  • Ability to climb ladders and stand for long periods.
